
Meet our staff
Jered H. Scherer was born in Billings,
Montana, where he attended both high school and
college. He graduated from the California College of
Mortuary Science in Los Angeles, California, in 1962. He
has been an owner in Smith Funeral Chapels for the past
30 years.
Jered and his wife, Bonnie, have two sons and three grandsons. Bonnie is the author of several children’s books, including, “What’s Happened to Grandfather?” which deals with the death of her own father.
The Scherer’s are both active members of First Baptist Church in Billings. Jered is a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Bedoo Shrine and the Billings Elks Lodge. He is past president of the Montana Funeral Directors Association and presently serves on the Montana State Board of Funeral Services.
Ronald
A. Stene was born in Huntley, Montana. He attended Eastern
Montana College in Billings and graduated from San Francisco
College of Mortuary Science in 1969. Ron has been involved
in funeral service for well over 40 years. Since 1976,
he has been with Smith Funeral Chapel, becoming a partner
in the business in 1982.
Ron and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for more than 35 years. The couple has worked together their entire married life. Cheryl is on staff at Smith Funeral Chapel. They have two sons and two grandchildren. Along with family life, Ron enjoys traveling, gardening, fishing, computers, reading and walking Phoebe, the family Bichon.
Ron is past president of the Montana Funeral
Directors Association and the Sons of Norway in Billings.
He is currently a trustee for the Sons of Norway.
